just looking for some advice
by jessica448 ini just want to start off by saying that i am not a jehovah's witness...about six months ago i started dating a really great guy, and about 2 months into our relationship he shared with me that he was disfellowshipped for a relationship he was in (he was living with his girlfriend).
this is so difficult for him because his family lives in the area, and being segregated from them is very hard for him.
recently, he has been considering an attempt to be reinstated (i'm sorry if i am not using the correct terminology...most of what i know about the religion i have learned online).

Revelation - Locusts
by LtCmd.Lore injohn reports: and they were told to harm no vegetation of the earth nor any green thing nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of god on their foreheads.
and in those days the men will seek death but will by no means find it, and they will desire to die but death keeps fleeing from them.revelation 9:4-6.. .
next problem:.

Jehovah's Witness here.
by nimzo ini have a question about my religion.
when people turn apostate, why do they seem kinda... weird.
they turn back to false teachings and their bible knowledge even proves that.

Exactly Dazed. I brought this up to my Mom. If a JW came to my door and I brought up how Simon got baptized even though he wanted to use the powers of the holy spirit for money (Acts 8) the JW's would just say they didn't want to get in a debate because they can't get around it. Yet Paul was willing to go to the Temple and debate (yes even NWT uses the word DEBATE)for days. This is what often brought death threats and jail time on him. How many JW's would be willing to DEBATE for days? Let alone walk in to a church and do it. Paul could PROVE and WIN his debates with miracles and his obvious knowledge of law. You can't even give us examples Nimzo or proof of what you claim. So who is following early Christians examples here?

The legality of shunning and my unique circumstance...
by drew sagan ini have always had a question as regards to the legality of shunning.
i know that under the laws of this country (usa) the witnesses right to have this practice has been granted to them by the law.
wikipedia mentions an important court case that occured: in june 1987, the united states court of appeals for the 9th circuit upheld the witnesses' right to disfellowship those who fail to live by the group's standards and doctrines.

Nimzo what about Simon? The bible clearly shows he was not "true of heart" he only wanted the powers of the holy spirit to make money off of (Acts 8). Yet he was baptized the same as anyone else. Clearly Jehovah did not "read" his heart and see he was not pure and still baptize him?

Good apostate strategy?
by Burger Time ini started thinking about this the other day.
when visiting my parents at night i will take the watchtowers and awakes in their "old" pile for placement and take a pen and highlighter and point out the logical fallacies and make notes on scriptures that disprove a theory or point.
might it be a fun tactic to do this with tracts or watchtowers and awake!

Might it be a fun tactic to do this with tracts or Watchtowers and Awake! magazines then "place" them at Doctors offices and such? I am sure they would probably be throw away. But I just wonder if one day my Mom and Dad will place one and the look on the persons face when they open it up to the "notes" inside.

social skills and JW's
by Descender init occured to me the other day that many jehovah's witnesses have very bad social skills outside of the kindom hall.
my brother, who still goes to meetings but isn't a strong believer, and his wife, who is a 4th generation jw with very stong beliefs and a very self righteous attitude asked my wife and i if we'd like to go for a hike at a local national park the other day.
i faded years ago and my wife is not and has never been a jw and isn't religious.

Rarely would a JW ever apply this scripture to themselves in 1 Cor. 14
There are, perhaps, a great many kinds of languages in the world, and no kind is without meaning. If then I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be to the one who speaks a barbarian, and the one who speaks will be a barbarian to me.
